Scottish Technology Club - 2026 Week 26 Bulletin

That's the last of EdinburghJS for the season - we wrapped up our talks with a visit from Sara Vieira (up from London) and Luigi Creazzo. We have a real community of people who regularly attend, and I'm pleased to say, lots of volunteers helping out. The talks will be back in September. I'm hoping to line up events on security, AI coding loops, and what's new in JavaScript. If any of this sounds like something you'd like to speak about then please do reply to the bulletin!

I've organised a summer social for EdinburghJS and Scottish Technology Club folk: Thursday 16th July, 7pm at 56 North. All folks working in technology are welcome, even if you've not been to one of our events before. It'll be a way to meet fellow technologists and developers in a relaxed and informal setting. If you attend another meetup then please do invite a crowd along!

It's a busy week in Scottish Technology meetups. I'll be hosting EdinburghJS on Tuesday, and Rust and Friends heads for Glasgow on Thursday: a daytime coffee meetup and an evening pub meetup.

It's been three years since I started publishing this bulletin. I started it as a way to aggregate interesting tech events and bring the GlasgowJS and EdinburghJS communities together. I'm glad that several other meetups have now found use in our community Discord server, and I hope that folks are encouraged and interested by the links I share to blogs and vlogs from tech people living in Scotland. You can learn lots online from people across the globe, but I think in-person meetups supported by online content are the real way to foster community that can support and grow opportunities. Hopefully you find use in the bulletin - please do let me know if you do, or if you have any ideas for what you want to see in the coming year.

It's a fairly short update this week as I am on holiday. Publishing this bulletin still involves wrangling markdown files on Github, and I'm doing this via their mobile app. Having to work on mobile has given me some ideas for improving the workflow, which should reduce the time-cost, making the site more maintainable and freeing me to improve other features like the jobs board and city pages.

This week Andrew is kindly hosting the GlasgowJS Social and I'll be back the following week to host EdinburghJS.
